Press conference for the „Digitalpakt“ at TU Darmstadt with participation from IIB
On April 23rd, 2020, the Hessen State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts together with the TU Darmstadt presented the “Digitalpakt” for universities in the Hesse. 112 million euros are to be invested in digital teaching, research and administration over the next five years. During the press conference, Hesse's Minister of Science Angela Dorn and Hesse's Minister of Digital Affairs Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, among others, tested the developments regarding VR4Teach. The IIB was represented by Prof. Uwe Rüppel and Christian Eller.

Master's thesis wins “Auf IT gebaut” award

Research fellow receives commendation
Once again this year, prizes were awarded in the competition „Auf IT gebaut – Bauberufe mit Zukunft“ at the international trade fair for building and construction technology bautec in Berlin for the best work relating to the digitalization of the construction industry in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, construction business management as well as trade and technology. Among the winners this year is an employee of the IIB.

IIB invites to 32nd Forum Bauinformatik
The Institute of Numerical Methods and Computer Science in Civil Engineering of the Technische Universität Darmstadt invites to the 32nd Forum Bauinformatik in Darmstadt. Update 27.03.2020 : Due to the current situation in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, many events, including conferences, will be cancelled at TU Darmstadt in the coming semester. As such, the 32nd Forum Bauinformatik is also affected by this and will therefore be postponed until next year for the time being. Further information will be announced here and on the updated conference website.

VR4Teach receives special prize for digital teaching

IIB honored at the 2019 Athene awards
In recognition of academic teaching at the TU Darmstadt, the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation awarded this year’s Athene awards on 27th November. Amongst other things, the prize for digital teaching, endowed with 5,000 euros, was also awarded. Here, the IIB was honored for addressing current issues and challenges in the field of study and teaching.

News from the institute
Just before the turn of the year, the Institute of Numerical Methods and Computer Science in Civil Engineering received further support on 01.12.2019. After Mr. Patrick Scheich, M.Sc., assumed their activities at the beginning of the year and Ms. Luisa Kuhn, M.Sc., in the middle of the year, we are now pleased to welcome Mr. Zhongxin Xia, M.Sc. to the Institute.

“BIM – new roles, new potentials. Experience reports from practice” – this is the title of the presentation by Mr. Kujajewski at the IIB. Steffen Kujajewski is head of the BIM department of ZECH Bau Holding and will present insights into his work on 27.01.2020. The lecture will be held in German language.

A 'Thank you' to our student assisstants
On Thursday, 10.10.2019, a game night took place at the IIB. Since a barbecue ban was declared once again this year in Darmstadt, the Institute used this opportunity instead to thank the student assistants for the preparation and supervision of the courses as well as the support in the various research projects.

News from the institute
The 31st edition of the Forum Bauinformatik, an annual conference especially for young scientists in the field of informatics in civil engineering, took place in Berlin this year. Since 1993, the Institute has participated in the Forum Bauinformatik on an ongoing basis in order to present research work, discuss problems on a subject-specific basis and inform itself about the latest state of research. As always, various contributions on diverse research topics were published and presented.

News from the institute
The Institute for Numerical Methods and Informatics in Civil Engineering has been further strengthened on 01.08.2019. After welcoming Patrick Scheich, M. Sc., who took up his activity at the institute in February this year, Luisa Kuhn, M.Sc. now starts her path as a research assistant for the courses and research projects at the institute. The current number of doctoral students thus increases to eleven.
