Presentations and discussions on new methods and technologies in construction informatics promote the international exchange of knowledge and strengthen the network in the field.
In August 2024, our employees attended the International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE) in Montreal, Canada. There, they presented their latest research findings and approaches on topics such as explainable AI, BIM integration and blockchain applications.

Excursion to the underground laboratory of the French radioactive waste authority
The French authority for the management of radioactive waste operates an underground laboratory in Bure for research into the safe disposal of high-level radioactive waste. During an excursion, the IIB gained exciting insights into the requirements and realisation possibilities of a repository.

Third place in the building management category goes to Jens Wala for the conceptual design of a decentralized building life cycle management system
The high heterogeneity of the software systems used in the construction industry makes it difficult for stakeholders to collaborate over the life cycle of a building. The proposed solution offers an approach to solving this problem with the help of technologies from the manufacturing industry and the Semantic Web.
