Object recognition is a versatile technology that can also be used in the construction industry for a wide range of tasks and problems.

Object recognition is a technology from the field of computer vision for locating and identifying objects in image or video sequences. Humans can recognize many objects and their states in images with little effort, even though the objects are viewed from different perspectives, sizes and scales and can even partially disappear from the field of view. Objects that are only partially visible can also be recognized. This task continues to pose a challenge for computer vision systems.

Over the decades, numerous approaches have been developed to master this task. The technology with its wide range of algorithms is also increasingly being used in the construction industry and can be applied to a wide variety of problems. It is therefore important to investigate the possible applications for various problems using appropriate algorithms and to determine the resulting potential. The thesis can also consist of pure research work (only for a bachelor’s thesis) but can also include the application of algorithms (mandatory for a master’s thesis).

Interest in artificial intelligence and object recognition. Knowledge in this area is a nice to have, but not required.
