Insight into practice and networking at digitalBAU

At the digitalBAU this year, 270 exhibitors presented their ideas and solutions for the digitization of the construction industry at the Cologne exhibition center. In order to get an insight into practice and to establish contacts with leading digital companies, scientific research assistant Maximilian Gehring visited the fair on behalf of the IIB.

By visiting the digitalBAU fair, the IIB is looking for partners for new, exciting research projects in the field of digitization in the construction industry. In discussions with exhibitors and visitors, research ideas can be developed and evaluated at an early stage.

This year, the prizes in the “Auf IT gebaut” competition were also awarded at digitalBAU. We warmly congratulate our student Mareike Otzdorff, who won the first prize in the category of construction management for her work “Programming a BIM-supported application tool to optimise the call-off process for construction materials”, which she wrote as a working student at Implenia AG. Previously, she wrote her bachelor's thesis “Optimization of logistics area management based on crane capacity using the BIM method” at the IIB and was supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Rüppel and Michael Disser, M.Sc.
