Pascal Mosler, research assistant at the IIB, was awarded the first OER Prize of the HessenHub. Pascal Mosler received the prize for creating explanatory videos for the course “Geometric Modelling and Visualisation I”. The HessenHub is a network for digital university teaching in Hesse that awards educational resources under free licence (Open Educational Resources) with the OER prize.

Open Educational Resources (OER) are digital educational resources that can be used, edited and redistributed for free. Pascal Mosler, research assistant at the IIB, produced twelve explanatory videos for the course “Geometric Modelling and Visualisation I” in winter term2021/2022, in which he explained geometry methods using exemplary tasks. The explanatory videos are available as a playlist on the YouTube channel of the institute.

Numerous Hessian universities belong to the HessenHub, a network for digital university teaching in Hessen. With the OER Award, the HessenHub states that it is “pursuing the goal of honouring the production of open educational resources in Hesse. [OER] enable free access to education and at the same time simplify the use of media in teaching. Since the advantage lies especially in reusability and thus the media can be adapted to one's own teaching and target group, the focus of our jury was not on perfect learning media, but on the media being original and as open as possible and thus suitable for stimulating a cultural change in Hessian universities.”

The HessenHub praised the explanatory videos as an “important contribution to the liberalisation of higher education and the joint further development of numerous educational contents”. The jury consisted of representatives of the participating universities. An overview of all award-winning projects can be found on the HessenHub homepage.
