New Hardware at the Institute: Robot and Powerful Computer for Artificial Intelligence

News from the institute

2021/12/07

The Institute for Numerical Methods and Informatics in Civil Engineering has acquired new hardware at the semester beginning: The Husarion robot ROSbot 2.0 Pro and the AI computer with an “AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper 3970x” processor as well as a “Geforce RTX 3090” graphics card. This was done as part of the “Hochschulpakt 2020” from the state of Hesse. The equipment will be used to improve the teaching in automatisation and artificial intelligence for engineering tasks.

Right at the beginning of the semester, the Institute for Numerical Methods and Informatics in Civil Engineering upgraded its hardware. The hardware – the robot “WALL.iib” ;) and a powerful computer specially equipped for artificial intelligence tasks – were acquired as part of the HSP2020 funds. In the future, robots and artificial intelligence will take over more and more tasks in the context of data-driven workflows. This development can also be observed in the field of engineering. The hardware will be used in teaching and in the context of student theses in the areas of automation and artificial intelligence.
