We are delighted to welcome Laura Valderrama Niño, Sabrina Becker, Nils Schäfer, and Lars Wagenbach to the Institute. They will be supporting us with courses and research projects in the future.
Mrs Valderrama Niño studied civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering at bachelor and master level at the Colombian engineering school Julio Garavito (Bogotá, Colombia). She also completed a master's degree in Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies at the Technical University of Dresden. She has professional experience in research and teaching as well as in structural design and in the field of BIM and digitalization (B+G Ingenieure Bollinger und Grohmann GmbH and ICL Ingenieur Consult GmbH).
Ms Becker studied civil engineering at both the bachelor's and master's levels at the Technical University of Darmstadt. In addition to her studies, she gained experience in construction management and traffic planning. Ms Becker will now be working together with Mrs Valderrama Niño on the BigRail II and DenkmalBIM research projects, as well as supporting teaching.
Mr Schäfer completed his bachelor’s degree in a dual study program with Siemens AG and earned a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, focusing on structural engineering. His research activities focus on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in civil engineering. In the future, Mr Schäfer will be involved in research projects in the field of AI and Virtual Reality (VR) and will teach the module fundamentals of engineering informatics (GDI) from the winter semester 2024/25 onwards.
Mr Wagenbach completed his bachelor's and master's degree in environmental engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, specialising in engineering informatics and geodesy. He has already worked at the institute for two years as a student assistant and has also gained experience in practice and research (CDM Smith Consult SE and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.). He will also carry out research projects in the field of AI and VR and support teaching.
We warmly welcome all new research assistants at the institute!
