ICCCBE 2018 – IIB in Finland

International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering 2018 in Tampere, Finland

2018/07/20

At this year's ICCCBE in Tampere, Finland, the Institute of Numerical Methods and Informatics in Civil Engineering was represented as well. In addition to disseminating its own research results, the focus was on international exchanges with colleagues working and researching in the field of computer science in civil engineering from all over the world. Anna Wagner and Prof. Uwe Rüppel attended the conference.

This June the 17th International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE) took place in Tampere, Finland [1]. The conference takes place every two years and serves to exchange challenges and approaches to address those in various fields of computer science in the built environment. In addition to research facilities, the conference is also visited by international companies. The Institute of Numerical Methods and Informatics in Civil Engineering regularly uses the conference as a platform to present its research results to a broad audience. Furthermore, the Institute's chair Prof. Uwe Rüppel is part of the board of directors of the ISCCBE (International Society for Computing in Civil and Building Engineering), the society behind the conference.

At the conference, Anna Wagner presented the paper “SolConPro: An Approach to the Holistic Integration of Multi-Functional Façade Components into Buildings' Lifecycles” [2] containing relevant research results from the research project SolConPro [3]. The presented paper’s contents are pre-processing tools to facilitate the integration of multifunctional façade components into building processes. In addition to the pre-processing tools, the product data description and distribution developed within SolConPro are also part of the paper. Furthermore, Prof. Uwe Rüppel chaired two sessions on the subjects of “Building Evacuation” and “Life-Cycle and Environment”.
