Participation in the workshop “Linked Data in Architecture and Construction”
Semantic Web technologies in architecture, engineering and construction
2017/12/04
The IIB attended the workshop “Linked Data in Architecture and Construction” in Dijon, France, at the beginning of November (13.-15.11.2017). The theme of the workshop was the use of Semantic Web technologies in construction.

The European workshop takes place annually and serves as an international exchange of problems and results in the application of semantic web technologies such as ontologies and linked data in construction. Furthermore, the workshop is considered a platform of the working group “Linked Building Data Community Group” of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
During the workshop, hackathons were co-ordinated to address W3C recommendations on consistent product descriptions and a centralized building ontology to describe buildings using Semantic Web technologies. In addition, practical use cases of international companies (Ed Züblin AG, ARUP, NEANEX) were presented and solutions worked out together.
During the workshop, the IIB presented a use case for mapping geometric object description using ontologies.
