With constant progress in technology and increasing digitalization, it is possible to make large amounts of data available at any time and in almost any place. This could benefit the construction industry, but implementation is still failing due to a lack of interoperability, which needs to be improved in the future. With the open data exchange format IFC a solution to the interoperability problem is proposed and at the same time the topics Building Information Modeling and the Internet of Things are discussed. Subsequently, the question of how IoT data, in this case sensor data, can be visualized will be addressed. The game engine Unity3D will be used as visualization tool and a facility management application will be developed and evaluated.
